The Big Strathie Bike Ride

Grangemouth - 63.3 Miles

This was the second attempt to pedal to Grangemouth, the first being abandoned in Milnathort when Grangemouth called off.

This gave Captain Slow the excuse not to start at Inchmacoble but to use Wooden Cock as a chauffer.  Major Disaster was therefore grateful of the company of The Wee Piss Pot as far as the Tay Bridge and a slightly later start!

The snow started to come down heavily just before Auchtermuchty, by the time the naughty nurses house was in view it was  lying so thickly as to obscure the view through the window and the opportunity for one final perv of the season was gone!

After an hours wait at Kinross Services the Captain and Wooden Cock scurried in covered in snow moaning about snow, puddles and a harsh wind.

An hour, and two pitch inspections, later it was time to venture out again with assurances from Grangemouth that it was only raining on the other side of Kincardine Bridge.

The Captain retreated to his car for another few miles before venturing on to his cycle, till the snow was off and no up hills were left.  A few fags later he was out and proud with the shiny new bike steaming through the puddles and on to Grangemouth for a well earned whiskey and a Guinness.

There was only one winner of this weeks 50/50 Niall MacLean collecting £63 guessing the closest at 66.2 miles.  To learn more and enter the next 50/50 CLICK HERE.

Next up is Aberdeen University on the 2nd of April followed by Harris Acdemy FP's on the 9th, if you would like to join us please get in touch with us by clicking here.

The monies raised will be split between the Everyman Charity and the club where the money will go directly towards an extension to the clubhouse benefiting both the juniors, seniors and all who come who come along to watch the matches and support the club.

Everyman is a campaign that was launched by The Institute of Cancer Research in 1997.  Everyman's mission is to stamp out testicular and prostate cancer, more can be found out by clicking on their logo.

We aim to have a variety of sponsorship opportunities through the season.  There will be a book behind the bar where a donation and an overall season accumulator competition can be entered.  A separate match 50/50 book will be available the week before all the away matches where you can guess the distance travelled for £1.

All club members and supporters are more than welcome to join in any of the rides, we are also looking for volunteers to assist with transport and back up.
