The Big Strathie Bike Ride
St. Andrews - 38.6 Miles
The last match before the 1st XV League
November break was a nice short trip to a sunny St. Andrews.
A 7:00am start was decided upon so we would have time for a spot
of lunch.
The Friday night club dinner extravaganza
gave Road Runner and Wooden Cock now to be known as Major
Disaster and Corporal Punishment a bit of a thick head
hence the start was slightly delayed, we also missed Corporal
Jones (Raymond Moug) who peddled all the way to Fife meet up
with us on the other side of the Tay Bridge .
The route was quiet with a nice ride
through
Tentsmuir Forrest with no incidents until Corporal
Punishment's chain broke going up the hill on the way to
The Whey Pat Tavern, luckily though his balls weren't broken
and he made it on foot then Corporal Jones fell off his bike.
The pub was open and we were able to have some lunch except for
the captain who stuck with beer and fags. The students
managed to mess up the times with the referee so that gave us
time for an extra pint before the last 3/4 mile along to the
ground.
There
were 4 winners
of this weeks 50/50 each collecting £22.50 each
guessing correctly at 38.6 miles. To learn more and

The monies raised will be split between the Everyman Charity and the
club where the money will go directly towards an extension to the clubhouse benefiting both
the juniors, seniors and all who come who come along to watch the
matches and support the club.
Everyman is a campaign that was launched by The Institute of Cancer
Research in 1997. Everyman's mission is to stamp out testicular
and prostate cancer, more can be found out by clicking on their logo.
We aim to have a variety of sponsorship opportunities through the
season. There will be a book behind the bar where a donation and
an overall season accumulator competition can be entered. A
separate match 50/50 book will be available the week before all the away
matches where you can guess the distance travelled for £1.
All club members and supporters are more than welcome to join in any of the
rides, we are also looking for volunteers to assist with transport and
back up.
